The i30 features a front design with Hyundai Motor Chief Design Officer, Peter Schreyer calling it the “cascading grille” – Hyundai’s new signature feature. The Active trim is available with a chrome surround front grille, with a piano black grille insert. All other variants feature a chrome ‘falling mesh’ grille insert, which ties in with the cascading design.

Exterior Features

The full LED headlight units offer LED low-beam & high–beam functionality, and offer increased visibility via aesthetically-pleasing, crisp white lighting, and also improved durability. These units feature a stylised design incorporating two low-beam projectors outboard, plus a third high-beam projector mounted inboard in each headlight unit. These features are available on N Premium and Premium variants.

Vertical LED Daytime Running Light (DRL) strips feature prominently in the lower front bumper, integrated into the functional air vents (leading into the front wheel arches).

The DRLs not only provide a distinctive visual signature for the i30, but also increase safety by increasing the i30’s visibility to other road users. Available on all variants.

Exterior Features 2

Panoramic glass sunroof

A feature typically reserved for much more expensive vehicles, the large full-length dual panel panoramic glass sunroof features a power tilt and slide front panel, offering a touch of luxury to the i30. Interior Features 2

Front Seats Warming & Cooling Air Ventilation

The i30 offers year round comfort for front seat occupants thanks to the heated and ventilated front seats. The 3-stage heating elements ensure the front seating surfaces are warmed in cool weather. During hotter conditions, 3-stage ventilation fans blow a gentle stream of cooling air through the perforations in the leather seats. These features are standard on N Premium and Premium variants.

Technology Features

Technology Features

Wireless Charging

Mounted in the centre console, a wireless charging pad (Qi standard) allows users to charge a compatible Qi-enabled smartphone without the use of messy and unsightly cables

For other devices, users may be able to purchase a third-party smartphone accessory (such as a Qi-enabled phone case) to allow the use of wireless charging on their non-compatible smartphone.

This is standard on N, N Premium, Elite and Premium variants

Technology Features

Electronic Parking Brakes (EPB)

Compared to a conventional handbrake, the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) not only allows more storage space in the front centre console, but is effortless in its operation. The Auto Hold function automatically maintains braking pressure once the vehicle has been brought to a complete stop, ensuring that the vehicle will not creep forwards or roll backwards even with the brake pedal released. The brakes are then released once the driver steps on the accelerator pedal.

These features are standard on N (DCT only), N Premium, Elite, and Premium variants.

Technology Features

Engine start/stop button

With the proximity Smart Key system, users can lock/unlock the vehicle via the physical button on the front door handles, and start the vehicle through the push of the dash mounted ‘Engine Start/Stop’ button, all whilst the key stays in the user’s pocket.

This feature is available on N, N Premium, Elite, and Premium variants

Technology Features

Apple CarPlay & Android Auto

Once your journey is underway, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ lets you safely play music, make calls or get directions on the easy to use 8-inch touchscreen.

Apple CarPlay requires iPhone 5 or subsequent model (with lightning cable) in order to operate.

While Android Auto requires a device with Android 5.0 operating system or subsequent version in order to operate. Available on all variants.

Performance Features

Performance Features

7 Speed Dual Clutch Tranmissions (DCT)

Available with the 1.6L diesel and 1.6L petrol turbo engines, the 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) combines the fuel efficiency of a manual transmission with the convenience of an automatic transmission.

Thanks to re-calibrated transmission logic, the new DCT is now even more responsive under spirited driving, yet still offers the smooth-shifting characteristics that are desired for everyday commuting.

Performance Features

Advance High Strength Steel (AHSS)

Thanks to heat treatment processes, Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) is up to 10% lighter than, and twice as rigid, as conventional mild steel.

The all-new i30 features significantly increased application of AHSS, totalling 53.5% (as compared to 27.2% on the outgoing model), and resulting in a significant increase in static rigidity over the outgoing model, whilst achieving a 28kg lighter body-in-white weight.

Performance Features

Drive Mode

Available on all automatic and DCT variants, the Drive Mode Select function allows drivers to choose between Normal, Eco, and Sport modes.

The ‘Normal’ mode offers a driving experience optimised for a typical driver, whilst ‘Eco’ mode maximises fuel economy. ‘Sport’ mode offers increased steering weighting and engine response. Coupled with delayed up-shifting, this mode maximises the dynamic driving feel of the vehicle.

Performance Features

Paddle Shifters

The SR range’s DCT variants offer steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

This delivers a more sporty driving experience by allowing drivers to change gears via the DCT’s sequential manual mode, whilst keeping their hands on the steering wheel.

Safety Features

Safety Features

Emergency Stop Signal (ESS)

Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) helps warn surrounding traffic when emergency braking on the i30 is detected. The system flashes the rear brake lights whilst braking, and automatically activates the hazard lights once the vehicle has stopped. This feature is available on all variants.

Safety Features

Rear view camera & park assist system

The rear view camera not only provides the driver with a clear view of the area directly behind the vehicle, but also offers dynamic parking guidelines which swivel as the driver turns the steering wheel position. 4 rear park assist sensors feature is available on all variants. In addition, N Premium & Premium variants also feature a 4-sensor front park assist system for added convenience.

Safety Features

7 airbags including driver’s knee airbag

The i30 features a comprehensive suite of airbags, including dual front airbags (driver & passenger airbags), front side (thorax) airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, as well as a driver’s knee airbag.

*Finishes specified as leather may contain elements of genuine leather, polyurethane leather (leather substitute) or man-made materials, or a combination thereof.

Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)

Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) works in conjunction with Forward Collision Warning (FSW) system to automatically apply the vehicle’s brakes in the case of a potential collision (where no driver intervention is detected after a FCW system warning).

AEB is active above speeds of approximately 10km/h, and will attempt to bring the vehicle to a complete stop (speeds of 64 km/h pedestrians/ 80 km/h vehicles). Between speeds of 80 – 180 km/h, when activated, AEB will slow down the vehicle in order to reduce the severity of the collision.

This is available on N (DCT only), N Premium, Elite, and Premium variants.

Hyundai SmartSense™

Forward Collision Warning (FCW)

Forward Collision Warning (FCW) when active utilises the front radar sensor & windshield mounted camera to detect vehicles and pedestrians in front the vehicle.

If a potential collision is detected, the FCW system will sound an audible warning chime and display a visual warning in the Supervision cluster.

This is available on N (DCT only), N Premium, Elite, and Premium variants.

Hyundai SmartSense™

Blind Spot Detection (BSD)

At speeds of 30 km/h or above, Blind Spot Detection (BSD) uses radar sensors on either side of the rear bumper to detect vehicles next to and diagonally behind the i30.

If a vehicle is present in the i30’s blind spot, BSD displays a visual alert in the exterior mirrors. If the driver proceeds to activate the corresponding indicator lights, a flashing visual warning is provided and an audible alert is sounded.

This feature is available on N, N Premium, Elite, and Premium variants.

Hyundai SmartSense™ 2

Lane Change Assist (LCA)

Lane Change Assist (LCA) scans for vehicles approaching rapidly from the rear, and uses the same Blind Spot Detection (BSD) warning measures to alert the driver of vehicles which may be entering the i30’s blind spot at a higher rate of speed.

This is available on N, N Premium, Elite, and Premium variants.

Hyundai SmartSense™ 2

Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)

Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) consists of three modes – Lane Departure Warning (LDW) mode, Standard LKAS mode, and Active LKAS mode. Standard LKAS mode provides steering intervention as the vehicle is about to leave the lane, whilst Active LKAS mode provides earlier steering intervention in order to assist the vehicle in staying in the centre of the lane.

When the vehicle stray from the intended lane without indicators being activated, an audible and visual warning will be sounded. This feature is available on N (DCT only), N Premium, Elite, and Premium variants.

Hyundai SmartSense™ 2

Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)

Using the Blind Spot Detection system’s radar sensors, Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) monitors for traffic approaching on either side of the i30 when reversing out of an angle parking space.

Should RCTA detect a vehicle approaching, an audible warning will sound, with a visual warning displayed on the Supervision cluster.

This feature is available on N, N Premium, Elite, and Premium variants.
